Life in Baltimore The Big City In Comparison
For those who can not keep track of us, Mike and I have moved to Baltimore, 3210 N. Calvert St, Apt C, Baltimore, MD 21218. Our location happens to be caddy corner to our place of work, Union Memorial Hospital, UMH. This is also a couple row houses down from my mother’s stomping ground when she was a bright-eyed nursing student at UMH, being courted by my father. We are enjoying hospital - based physical therapy. I was hoping to enhance my acute care skills. But when they found out about my extensive rehabilitation experience, they put me on there 7 bed rehab unit where I mainly see people after CABGs, coronary artery bypass grafts. I can run a case load of 5-6 in my sleep, love being back on a rehab unit, and have proven, first week, my skills with managing irate family members in family conferences. Mike is the go to PT on the non – joint replacement orthopedic floor. He manages surgery patients all day and then floats to other floors I walk to work and Mike drives his truck a block and a half to the garage at the hospital because we live in zoned parking. We have jumped back into the normal social lives, after some time of deprivation. We are playing dodge ball together. I am coaching water polo again, and playing social football, while juggling wedding planning. We have enjoyed getting to spend more time with the families and friends we have missed.
We have embraced city living, walking to restaurants, coffee, book stores, work (1/2 block) and laundry mats (no in-apt laundry), occasional periods of no water pressure mid shower or no hot water (the hot water is at least being resolved), $285 towing fees, and breaking & entering into our friends house during their honeymoon. One day Mike loves the city and the next day is wishing that my engagement band was the SMART car. That is city living.
